Purpose & Pedagogy
SNA Marianapolis International School seeks innovative, collaborative educational leaders to join its K-12 faculty for Fall 2026. SNA Marianapolis holds its educators and students to the same superlative community standard. Instructors ensure learning occurs in and out of the traditional classroom. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree or higher, with comprehensive knowledge. Each SNA Marianapolis educator is responsible for the design and implementation of an articulated experiential learning curriculum, modifying modes of instruction to meet the unique needs of every student. Outside of the traditional classroom, our faculty engage in extracurricular opportunities with students, whether coaching a sport or leading a co-curricular trip for hands-on learning. In short, our educators demonstrate a willingness to fully engage in the life of the school.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervises the behavior of all students in the classroom, throughout school grounds, and on educational trips.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Plans and develops an engaging, age-appropriate course of study in the classroom, adhering to educational best practices and state and school district curriculum guidelines.
- Designs and presents individual lesson plans in one or more academic subjects using a variety of teaching techniques that appeal to various learning styles and methods.
- Prepares materials for lessons, assignments, and tests; evaluates, corrects, and grades student performance.
- Discusses academic difficulties or behavioral problems with students as they arise.
- Monitors students’ progress throughout the year and evaluates preparedness for high school.
- Communicates all progress and concerns with tact and professionalism to parents and, as appropriate, other faculty, staff, and/or principal.
- Builds and maintains positive relationships with parents.
- Enforces safety and security standards for students, staff, and visitors.
- Maintains required paperwork for individual student files, attendance and incident reports, and other necessary records.
- Monitors halls, study periods, and lunchrooms with other faculty and staff.
- Participates in faculty meetings, educational conferences, in-service opportunities, workshops, and other training seminars.
- Maintains knowledge of research, developments, and best practices in middle grade education.
- Performs related tasks such as sponsoring student activities or organizations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirement:
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong understanding of the AP curriculum, particularly in courses such as AP English Language and Composition and/or AP English Literature and Composition.
- Demonstrated ability to develop students’ critical reading, analytical writing, and argumentation skills in line with AP expectations.
- Experience designing and delivering lessons that prepare students for AP assessments, including rhetorical analysis, synthesis essays, and literary analysis.
- Familiarity with College Board standards, assessment criteria, and exam formats.
- Ability to integrate a range of texts (fiction, non-fiction, and academic sources) to support rigorous, inquiry-based learning.
- Experience supporting students in developing research skills, academic integrity, and college readiness.
- Strong classroom management and differentiation skills to support diverse learners in a high-achieving academic environment.
- Proven ability to collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum, assessments, and instructional practices.
- Proficiency in using digital tools and learning platforms to enhance teaching and learning.
- Experience teaching AP courses or preparing students for AP examinations is highly preferred
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related subject required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Teaching license/ certificate required.
- Previous teaching experience with middle-school-aged children preferred.
Physical requirement (if any)
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach.
- Must be able to walk across the campus, take stairs up and down multiple times a day, adjust one’s tone and height, by bending, leaning, and/or sitting on the floor in order to teach each child.
