Job Description:

Job Purpose

The Whole School Curriculum Coordinator provides strategic and operational leadership in the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the school’s curriculum across all divisions. The role ensures alignment with international best practices, NEASC accreditation standards, American curriculum frameworks, and Advanced Placement (AP) program requirements.

The Coordinator supports the school’s mission by promoting rigorous academic standards, student-centered learning, college readiness, and a culture of continuous improvement. This role works closely with school leadership, faculty, and academic departments to ensure curriculum coherence, academic rigor, and alignment with American educational standards.

Key Responsibilities 

Strategic Curriculum Leadership

  • Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing review of the whole-school curriculum framework aligned with NEASC standards and American education best practices.

  • Ensure vertical alignment across grade levels and horizontal alignment across subject areas.

  • Support the integration and alignment of Advanced Placement (AP) courses with School Board standards and expectations.

  • Promote alignment between curriculum, instruction, assessment, and school-wide learning outcomes.

  • Collaborate with divisional leaders to ensure curriculum consistency and progression across Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle, and High School.

American Curriculum and AP Program Development

  • Oversee curriculum mapping to ensure alignment with American academic standards and college readiness expectations.

  • Support AP teachers in curriculum planning, pacing, and implementation according to School Board course frameworks.

  • Monitor AP course quality, rigor, and compliance with School Board program requirements.

  • Coordinate AP program implementation, including support for audit processes, course authorization, and program review.

  • Promote advanced academic pathways and ensure students are appropriately prepared for AP coursework.

Teaching and Learning Excellence

  • Support faculty and academic leaders in developing standards-based instructional planning and delivery.

  • Promote student-centered, differentiated, and inquiry-driven teaching methodologies.

  • Provide instructional coaching and facilitate professional development aligned with school improvement priorities and accreditation requirements.

  • Encourage integration of 21st-century skills, critical thinking, research skills, and academic writing across subject areas.

  • Promote effective integration of educational technology into teaching and learning.

Assessment, Data, and Continuous Improvement

  • Oversee standards-based assessment practices aligned with American curriculum expectations and AP assessment standards.

  • Support faculty in designing high-quality formative and summative assessments that measure student mastery and growth.

  • Analyze internal and external assessment data (including AP results, standardized testing, and internal benchmarks) to evaluate curriculum effectiveness.

  • Guide faculty in using data-driven strategies to improve student achievement and academic outcomes.

Accreditation and Compliance

  • Lead and support curriculum alignment with NEASC accreditation standards, particularly in areas related to teaching and learning, student assessment, and program effectiveness.

  • Maintain comprehensive curriculum documentation, including scope and sequence, curriculum maps, and assessment frameworks.

  • Support NEASC self-study, accreditation visits, action planning, and continuous school improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with accreditation expectations, school policies, and international education standards.

Collaboration and Professional Learning Culture

  • Facilitate curriculum articulation and collaborative planning meetings across divisions and departments.

  • Work closely with department heads, coordinators, and school leadership to implement curriculum initiatives and academic improvement plans.

  • Support onboarding and mentoring of new teachers regarding curriculum standards, AP expectations, and instructional practices.

  • Promote professional learning communities (PLCs) focused on reflective teaching practice and continuous improvement.

 

Job Requirement:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field (Master’s Degree in Curriculum, Educational Leadership, or related field preferred).

  • Valid teaching certification or equivalent international qualification.

  • Minimum of 4 years of teaching experience in an American or international school environment.

  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum leadership, coordination, or academic leadership roles.

  • Strong understanding of NEASC accreditation standards and continuous school improvement processes.

  • Experience working with Advanced Placement (AP) programs and College Board course frameworks is highly desirable.

  • Strong knowledge of standards-based curriculum development and assessment practices.
