LOWER SCHOOL

CORE CURRICULUM

The approach to teaching and learning Kindergarten thru grade 2 is centered around developmentally appropriate practices that provide a sense of well-being and opportunities to explore their world socially and emotionally. Our unique learning environment is built around classrooms that value student perspectives and fosters development thru hands on and inquiry-based learning experiences allowing students to discuss ideas, formulate questions, seek answers, and construct understandings.

In grades 3 thru 5 we continue to focus on skill development through transdisciplinary units that identify key concepts across subjects. This approach ensures students can think critically and construct enduring understandings across the curriculum. Our program incorporates the latest instructional research including Understanding by Design, Habits of Mind and Visible learning ensuring that students are engaged, motivated, and challenged in learning that transfers.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ADVISORY
